Yosara Trujillo started Sweet Water Dance & Yoga in 2012 with the money she had in her bank account and some financial backing from a friend. Her studio quickly filled a void in the South Bronx with this holistic wellness hub that provides a range of classes at reasonable prices.
Knowing that she needed a working capital boost to stay afloat, Yosara attended a financial workshop where she learned about Excelsior Growth Fund (EGF), and was quickly connected with a business advisor who walked her through the loan approval process. Shortly after, Yosara became the first recipient of an EGF loan through the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund, a loan program made possible with support from JPMorgan Chase and designed to increase access to capital for the diverse businesses located in the South Bronx.
